Wondering if Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go is right for your family? Check out our frequently asked questions below.

How do we get our teen to participate?

The #1 question! It is only natural that the idea of attending something new and different can feel strange or even a bit intimidating. Talking about relationships in a group setting with others can feel weird, but that’s actually ok! We will do our best to make everyone feel comfortable and to create an environment where both parents and teens feel safe sharing their experiences and feelings.

It can be helpful to remind your teen that this workshop isn’t about changing or “fixing” them. In fact, parents have a session all to themselves where the focus is on what they can do differently! This workshop is about supporting parents and teens to better understand their relationship and how to navigate the challenging moments that naturally come up during the turbulent teenage years. No blaming, we promise!

Is your teen still saying no? We’re happy to speak with you further, just reach out!

Do We have to share in front of the group?

We get it! Sharing in front of groups can be awkward! This workshop is limited to 6 families in order to help all participants feel more comfortable and to allow for more individualized support. There will be opportunities for sharing during the workshop, however, it is each individual’s choice if and how much they share. You will never be forced to share private details about your family with the group if you don’t feel comfortable! That being said, one of the benefits of participating in a family workshop of this nature is the normalizing and often relieving moments when family members recognize that other families experience similar challenges. We will do our best to set up a safe and confidential environment where sharing is welcomed but not required.

We have more than one teen in our house, how many can attend?

It is absolutely possible to have more than one teen attend the workshop but we like to speak with families first to make sure this option will be appropriate for them. Please get in touch to discuss bringing more than one teen to the workshop.

Can this really help OUR family?

The Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go Workshop is designed to work with all types of families experiencing a range of relational difficulties. Single parents, divorced parents, blended families, same-sex parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, and all other caregivers are welcome! Each family comes to the workshop with a different starting and ending point. We will work with your family where you’re currently at and help you move forward. Connection is a universal need in all families!

Is there anyone who shouldn’t participate in this workshop?

The Hold Me Tight® Let Me Go Workshop is an educational resource for families interested in enhancing the quality of their relationships. This program is not intended to be a substitute for family therapy. If any of your family members are experiencing significant relationship distress or serious mental health concerns then this workshop may not be the right fit for you. Ongoing family therapy can help your family work through similar goals in a supportive and safe therapeutic environment.
